Caring Kids is a socio-emotional development class for 4- to 6-year-old girls and boys.
Children with poor or limited social interaction skills often find themselves left out, lonely, and friendless. Social skills instruction is an important aspect of any preschool curriculum. It has been reported as a potentially effective intervention to improve social behaviors and reduce antisocial behaviors in students who may be at risk.
Tristan’s Quest’s Caring Kids will provide an exciting well-supervised program for 4- to 6-year old boys and girls. The impact of Caring Kids will be to provide positive behavioral support for children in a group setting while teaching appropriate social skills, behavioral self-management, and problem solving skills through the use of literature (story telling), puppetry, and crafts.
Puppets work so well because they are multi-sensory, providing visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic stimulation; children respond to them easily. Puppets are inherently interesting, often humorous, and they are first-rate storytellers. They bring focus and interest to the subject matter and teach children without the children recognizing that they are being taught. Puppets take the focus off the child and create a unique communication and learning opportunity.
The cost for 12 sessions will be $360.
