Growing Up With Style,
Grace, and Confidence

Growing up in today’s society is a challenging experience! In Growing Up with Style, Grace, and Confidence, our girls’ groups meet every other week to participate in a variety of activities to build self confidence and self esteem.

This program allows girls in three age groups (elementary, middle school, and high school) to come together on a regular basis to learn more about themselves as young women in the 21st century! The girls have been involved in a broad variety of activities, including learning about animal rehabilitation, participating in conflict resolution sessions, exploring the importance of good nutrition and the impact of the media on young girls, experimenting with scrapbooking techniques and photography; and they have even visited a CSI crime lab!

Additionally, all throughout the school year, the girls are involved in community service activities. One aspect of building self-esteem is to teach empathy and caring for others. The girls have written to students displaced by Hurricane Katrina and have made countless blankets as a part of our Cuddle Blanket Project. These blankets, made by children for children have been distributed to Family Services of the Piedmont, the Greensboro Police Department, the Guilford County Sheriff’s Department, and Summit House in Raleigh, NC.

This program will continue throughout the school year with a variety of activities planned. If you are interested in volunteering your time with these young ladies please contact us at the Tristan’s Quest office at 547-7460 or by email at tristansquest@bellsouth.net.
